'Let's be honest' - Agbonlahor shares emphatic Wan-Bissaka verdict after Man United source's reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the “guaranteed starter” for Man United at right-back and a new contract is a “no-brainer”.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted he “hasn’t seen any winger get past” the 25-year-old – who has been lauded for his one-on-one defending skills.

Wan-Bissaka has already played five times in the new season but has been a big miss since suffering a hamstring injury during the 3-1 defeat against Brighton on 16 September.

According to Premier Injuries, the right-back could return to action on 4 November against Fulham.

Football Insider revealed last week (9 October) that Man United are in talks with right-back Wan-Bissaka over a new contract.

His current deal at Old Trafford only runs until the end of the current season, meaning these negotiations are crucial for the defender’s future.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he is the guaranteed starter for Man United at right-back.

“He’s got a lot better on the ball recently. Everyone said he couldn’t do it, but he’s clearly been working hard on it.

“And let’s be honest, Man United can’t stop leaking goals.

“Wan-Bissaka on the pitch gives them a better chance of doing that.

“I’ve not seen any winger get past him. He’s quick, strong, and just a good defender.

“I’m sure they’d keep more clean sheets when he comes back, so it’s a no-brainer to give him that new contract.”
