A former news reporter who cut his teeth at the Shrewsbury Chronicle and Shropshire Star in the late 1990s before heading to London where he clocked up nearly a decade-and-a-half at Press Association, London Evening Standard and Goal, Wayne is the founder and editor of Football Insider. Loves a last-gasp comeback and believes the 2005 Champions League final was the greatest-ever football match. Can’t abide short corners. Or, Panenkas.

Pete O’Rourke

Evergreen, always on the mark and consistently productive, transfer market king Pete is the Jamie Vardy of football journalism. With a CV that includes lengthy spells with Sky Sports and ESPN, Pete has been breaking top-quality exclusives and leaving opponents trailing in his wake during his time contributing to Football Insider.

Fraser Fletcher

An experienced journalist who has worked in national broadcasting on and off screen, Fraser joined the Football Insider team in February 2023. A transfer specialist, he has broken some of the biggest stories across Scotland and England in recent windows. A proud Glaswegian, he is also the host of The Insider Show on YouTube.

David Lynch

A football journalist with over a decade’s experience covering Liverpool and Everton, David joined the Football Insider team in March 2023. Having previously covered the two clubs for the Sunday Mirror, the Evening Standard and Goal among others, he has a strong track record of breaking news from the Merseyside patch.

Daniel Bowers

Daniel joined the Football Insider team in early 2023. A sports journalism graduate from the University of the West of Scotland, he has previously worked at the Scottish Sun and GRV Media as a social media editor. He is also an experienced football commentator. A lifelong Celtic fan, Daniel won’t stop going on about that night in November 2012 when Tony Watt scored against Barcelona. We get it, it was over 10 years ago.

A Newcastle fan who is based a stone’s throw away from St James’ Park, he has numbed the pain of being part of the Toon Army by watching every other sport possible. Believes Bruno Guimaraes is the best thing to come out of South America since Nobby Solano.

Sean Fisher

A multimedia sports journalism graduate from UCFB, Sean joined Football Insider in December 2022. A Manchester United fan based in Rochdale who shamefully spent years studying at the Etihad Stadium. A self-proclaimed fantasy football expert, 2022/23 has been a disappointment, and he’s already prepping for next season. A fan of Formula 1 and the NFL on the side.

Charlotte Cohen

A multimedia journalism masters graduate from Glasgow Caledonian univeristy, Charlotte joined Football Insider in June 2022. A Celtic fan based in Glasgow who hasn’t quite been the same since Kieran Tierney left.

Ewan Kingsbury

A sports journalism graduate from the University of Brighton, Ewan joined Football Insider in August 2021. A Southampton fan from the Isle of Wight, he has spent years trying to pull off Graziano Pelle’s haircut. Recovers from the Saints’ shortcomings by watching F1 and the NBA.

Adam Williams

Adam joined Football Insider in December 2020 after establishing himself as a freelance football writer working in both print and digital journalism. He studied philosophy at Newcastle University, a subject which he says has helped him come to terms with Blackburn Rovers’ existentially draining performances over the years.

The Villans’ all-time leading Premier League goalscorer is loving life in the media spotlight and has no problem riling up supporters with his views – watch out Leeds fans! Keith Hackett

Former FIFA and Premier League referee Keith Hackett joined Football Insider in March 2021 to deliver his exceptional insight into the unique world of refereeing. Never one to sit on the fence, he offers expert analysis into the officials’ performances, as well as the behaviour of players and managers. Alan Hutton

Former Aston Villa, Rangers and Scotland defender Alan Hutton joined the Football Insider team in September 2019 – just months after leaving Villa Park. Having officially hung his boots in February 2020, the ‘Scottish Cafu’ delivers excellent insight and punditry on English and Scottish football – and even manages to give a balanced view on Celtic despite his Ibrox affiliations.

Kieran Maguire

Kieran joined the Football Insider squad in January 2021 and provides clarity for readers on the occasionally bewildering world of football finance. He is an author, university lecturer and all-round spreadsheet boffin. His 2020 book The Price of Football is a seminal work on the economic side of the beautiful game.
