Agbonlahor reveals the new role Johnson will be handed at Tottenham
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Brennan Johnson is “not a £50million player” after Tottenham made him their marquee summer signing.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 22-year-old’s finishing does not justify that price tag as of yet.
Johnson was announced as a new Tottenham player late on deadline day (1 September) after completing the switch from Nottingham Forest.
Spurs will reportedly pay £47.5million for the Wales international, with a 10% sell-on clause also included in the deal.
The forward made 44 appearances across all competitions for Forest last term, netting ten goals and offering up three assists in those outings.
He has already made four appearances this term but is yet to score or assist.

Johnson can play on both flanks and as a central striker.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I expect he’ll play through the middle and do a better job than Richarlison.
“I do like Johnson, but he’s not a £50million player at the moment.
“His finishing isn’t there at all just yet – we saw that chance he missed against Arsenal on the opening day.
“He has some other decent attributes. He’s quick – but he’s not a top player.
“It’s a lot of money, unless Postecoglou is convinced he can improve him quickly.”
Richarlison has played up front in each of Tottenham’s three Premier League games so far but is yet to find the net in the new campaign.
He did, however, score in the League Cup loss against Fulham on Tuesday (29 August).
