Sources: Aston Villa in pole position to sign Jon Rowe

Aston Villa are in pole position to land Norwich attacker Jonathan Rowe in the coming transfer windows, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed several Premier League sides are monitoring Rowe’s progress at Carrow Road – with Villa and Crystal Palace among them.

The 20-year-old made his debut for England’s Under-21 side last week (12 October) and scored in the 9-1 rout of Serbia.

That appearance was his first for England across any age-group side.

Rowe earned his place in the Young Lions’ set-up after netting seven goals in 13 appearances across all competitions already this season.

He has played in a range of roles during those outings, including on both flanks and in attacking midfield.

Norwich sit seventh in the Championship table and will be hoping to mount a promotion charge after their last relegation from the Premier League in 2022.

Rowe is under contract at Carrow Road until June 2025 after coming through the ranks in Norfolk.

The attacker signed his last extension in January 2022.

He has already made 13 appearances in the Premier League for Norwich, all of which came in the 2021-22 campaign.

Rowe is once again on the bench as England’s Under-21 side face Ukraine in qualifying for the European Championships on Monday (16 October).

Aston Villa, who are playing Europa Conference League football this season, sit fifth in the Premier League – while Crystal Palace are ninth.
