'Disgusting', 'Get in the bin' - Leeds United fans react to Patrick Bamford boos at Elland Road
Leeds United fans have reacted with dismay and confusion to Patrick Bamford’s reception in the Whites’ 4-1 victory over Huddersfield Town on Saturday (28 October).
Bamford entered the fray in the 79th minute as a replacement for Georginio Rutter but was met with boos from certain sections of Elland Road.
The 30-year-old has suffered significant injury setbacks in his recent history but has made an appearance from the bench in all of Leeds’ last six Championship games.
The Englishman missed a crucial penalty in Leeds’ recent Championship clash against Stoke City, with the Potters going on to win the game 1-0.
While Daniel Farke’s side bounced back with a huge victory over Darren Moore’s Terriers, Bamford did not escape criticism but was defended by a large part of supporters.
One fan praised Bamford’s resilience for remaining on the pitch and applauding the home fans at full-time despite the jeers.
