'Devastated' Tottenham handed 'massive advantage' over Brentford after source's reveal - pundit

Tottenham have a “massive advantage” over Brentford after their game with Burnley at the weekend was postponed, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed the Tottenham players will have been “devastated” the game was called off at such short notice.

Referee Peter Bankes decided to postpone the game just 50 minutes before it was scheduled to kick off on Sunday (28 November).

A Spurs source told Football Insider earlier this week (30 November) Antonio Conte ordered his squad to undergo a training session after the game with Burnley was postponed.

They flew back to London and were straight on the pitch at the Hotspur Way training ground.

Asked what impact that will have ahead of Thursday’s (2 December) game with Brentford, Agbonalhor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s a massive advantage.

“They’ve not had the game, that hard 90 minutes so it’s a major advantage. It will really help Burnley and Spurs in their next game.

“As a player, you want to play the game, you’re there, you’ve done the travelling, you don’t want to come back and do it on a different day.

“You are devastated when the game is called off.”

Tottenham suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Slovenian side NS Mura in the Europa Conference League last time out.

As quoted by football.london today (1 December), Conte revealed they are still “very angry” at the result and there will be a reaction against Brentford.
