'Should be two-year ban' - Fans react to Sky's update on Newcastle star Sandro Tonali
Football fans have had their say with Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali reportedly set to receive a 10-month ban in the next 48 hours.
As per Sky Sports’ Keith Downie (24 October), Tonali is expected to learn his fate in the next hours following an investigation into his alleged betting breaches.
It has been claimed that discussions are currently centering around a 10-month football ban.
Such a punishment would mean Tonali is ruled out of the rest of the season for Newcastle – as well as missing the European Championships with Italy, should they qualify.
The midfielder, who cost Eddie Howe’s side a reported £55million in the summer window, has played 11 times for his new club – scoring once.
Newcastle are next in action against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday (25 October), but could be without Tonali if he receives news on a potential suspension before kickoff.

One fan suggested the Magpies’ season will be “over” if the Italian is ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
Well that’s Newcastles season over 🤣

More supporters insisted Tonali should face a longer ban for his alleged rule breaches.
Should be 2 year ban I expect

Got off lightly if that’s the case

One Newcastle fan suggested Tonali should take his potential time off to settle in at the club – as well as pen a contract extension.
Get it done, take time to settle in, learn English, sign contract extension and see you next season raring to go 💪

Another Magpies supporter insisted a potential ban would not be a “disaster” but conceded the club will have to make a new signing in January.
To be fair, given what was branded about it’s a shame but not a disaster. Especially with Joe back in starting form and Willock on his way back. Just means we may have to dip into the market for a midfielder in January. Like a new signing come start of next season.

One fan questioned the length of the ban, branding it “extreme”.
Isn’t this a bit extreme ?
