Kieran Maguire: Crystal Palace are about to land '£7m' jackpot after source's reveal
Crystal Palace will add £7million to their matchday revenue by expanding Selhurst Park but it may upset their hardcore fanbase.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Palace’s plans to grow capacity.
As revealed by Football Insider (12 October), the Eagles have been given the green light to begin their redevelopment of Selhurst Park.
The £150million project is set to add around 8,000 seats to the venue, taking total capacity to 33,000.
Palace posted matchday revenue of £14.1million in their latest 2021/22 accounts, but that figure is expected to rise significantly once the stadium project is complete.
Maguire believes revenue will rise at Palace, but extra focus on hospitality sectors at the stadium may upset the club’s hardcore fanbase.

“We’re looking at a capacity increase of 9,000 and for a club like Palace, you’re probably looking to get £600-£700 per fan per season,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“When those numbers are crunched we end up with a revenue increase of £6-£7million.
“While that doesn’t sound a lot, there will also be opportunities to improve what’s offered in hospitality and commercial sectors.
“However, I suspect the hardcore Palace fans won’t be particularly impressed by that.
“I think they pride themselves on their South London routes.
“But you know, football is business whether we like it or not.
“I’m sure Steve Parish will be delighted to get a return on that £150million investment as soon as possible.“
