Sources: Major January update on Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale
Arsenal are unwilling to let Aaron Ramsdale leave the club in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Gunners will not sanction an exit – even if Ramsdale, 25, decides leaving the Emirates Stadium is for the best.
He has been displaced in Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven by summer signing David Raya, who has started each of the last eight games in the Premier League and Europe.
It is believed Ramsdale wants regular first-team football – not just to stake his claim for England ahead of Euro 2024, but also to keep his career on track at a crucial time in his development.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Arsenal are “aware” of the growing issue and the increased scrutiny surrounding the goalkeeper berth.
Chelsea have recently been linked with a January swoop for Ramsdale, but Arsenal are not likely to sanction that deal when the mid-season window opens.

The England international started the first four games of the 2023-24 campaign, keeping one clean sheet and conceding four goals.
He returned to the side for the League Cup win over Brentford last month (27 September) as Raya was ineligible to play against his parent club.
Arsenal reportedly paid £3million to sign the Spain international on a season-long loan and will need to pay the Bees a further £27million to land him permanently.
Ramsdale, who is under contract until June 2026, was a key man for Mikel Arteta’s side during their title challenge last term.
The ex-Bournemouth star conceded 46 goals and kept 15 clean sheets in 41 games across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign.
