'Serves the owners right' - Birmingham City fans react to Wayne Rooney's first home match

Wayne Rooney has split the opinion of Birmingham City fans after overseeing his first home match in charge, a 2-0 defeat to Hull City on Wednesday night.

Football Insider has been gathering the reaction of Blues fans after new manager Rooney lost his second consecutive game since taking over.

The Man United legend was appointed to replace John Eustace following the club’s takeover with the new owners looking for a big name to lead the side forward.

Rooney kicked off his new job with a 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough at the weekend before Wednesday’s (25 October) 2-0 defeat to Hull.

The Blues are currently 12th in the Championship table with 18 points from the 13 games played so far.

Former manager Eustace won five of the 11 league games he took charge of before being replaced by Rooney.

Fans have been split over the potential of the former DC United manager to lead Birmingham to success.

One supporter urged to club to get rid of Rooney now before things get worse.

One supporter claimed the bad start “serves the owners right” for getting rid of Eustace.

One begged the board to bring back the ex-manager before things get really bad.

Another supporter is worried for the players at having to listen to Rooney.

But some supporters urged their fellow Blues fans to get behind the manager acknowledging that it will take more than two games to get settled with the new boss.

One fan was behind Rooney but is worried about completely overhauling the playing style.

Another urged fans to get behind the new manager.

And one insisted the club have been “saved” by the board with Rooney’s appointment.
