Sources: Alexis Mac Allister undergoing Liverpool medical today - fee below £50m
Brighton have granted Alexis Mac Allister permission to undergo a medical today as he closes in on a move to Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
The Argentine is currently going through the formalities of a switch to Anfield which, as Football Insider revealed on Monday, is expected to be completed this week.
The process of Mac Allister’s departure from the south coast has been smoothed by the presence of a release clause in the new contract he signed in October of 2022.
And, though an exact fee has yet to be confirmed, it is expected to be lower than the £50m amount previously reported.
Mac Allister comes highly recommended by former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, who lavished high praise upon him in an interview earlier this week.
“Alexis, what a special player and special person,” he said.

“He’s a player that is so pure with how he plays. The way he lends the football, uses others, there’s no selfishness in the way he plays.
“It was so special watching him during the World Cup, not playing to begin with then getting used and proving himself. Then playing so well that there’s no way he doesn’t play, by the end Messi is looking for him.”
Mac Allister is set to become the first signing of a planned midfield overhaul at Anfield this summer, which will continue apace once his move is finalised.
Nice’s Khephren Thuram and Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone are just two of the players currently being considered by the Reds.
Long-standing interest in Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich and Chelsea’s Mason Mount, who is a target for Manchester United, could also be followed up.
In other news, Liverpool expect to receive a second bid for one of their young stars after rejecting an initial approach from RB Leipzig.
