Sources: Trevoh Chalobah close to £45m Chelsea move as medical booked

Chelsea are keen to offload defender Trevoh Chalobah for £45million as soon as possible after agreeing a deal for Monaco’s Axel Disasi, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (31 July) that Disasi will cost the Blues £38million and a medical has been booked ahead of him signing a five-year deal at the London club.

Chalobah does not want to leave Stamford Bridge but it is believed the imminent arrival of the France international has pushed him even closer to the exit door.

Inter Milan remain extremely keen to bring the Englishman in this summer after a year-long pursuit for his signature – during which Chalobah visited Milan.

The centre-back recently captained childhood side Chelsea in the pre-season tour of the United States and revealed that he hoped for many more opportunities to wear the Blues armband.

However, despite the wishes of Chalobah the Chelsea board see him as an asset that can be sold this summer and plan to push him to join another club in the final weeks of the summer window.

England Under-21 star Levi Colwill has also returned from Brighton on loan and has been guaranteed opportunities to play this season – pushing him ahead of Chalobah in the pecking order.

It is believed Inter will face competition from clubs in England and around Europe for his signature – but have already had contact with Chelsea and the player’s agents.

New boss Mauricio Pochettino has already seen an exodus of stars from Stamford Bridge this summer, with the likes of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic moving on to pastures new.

Chalobah has played a total of 63 times for the Chelsea first team, netting four times and grabbing one assist.

He has also been capped at every level of youth football for England.
