Tottenham expert left fuming after Alasdair Gold's Alfie Devine reveal
Tottenham have wasted a year of Alfie Devine’s development.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 5 March, Alasdair Gold of Football.London reported Devine will stay at Tottenham next season.
It is claimed Spurs are keen to get him registered as a club-trained player in their squad.
Antonio Conte has named Devine in recent matchday squads against Leeds (26 February) and the FA Cup defeat at Middlesbrough (1 March).
Wenham still wants the 17-year-old to play a season of men’s football.

“I understand the reasoning and you have to understand that to appreciate what is being said in that piece,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Alasdair Gold is very good at getting information directly from the club.
“I was thinking we would get Alfie out on loan as soon as the window opens so he can do a full pre-season with a League One club.
“Then he can play every single game of a 45-game season next year. But I see what they are saying in this piece.
“Tottenham think Alfie is on this trajectory and they don’t want to loan him out until he has done three consecutive seasons with the club.
“That makes him homegrown and a club affiliated player, that is especially vital for European competitions as you need four of them in your squad.
“Those players are hard to come by. At the moment those players are Tanganga, Kane, Winks and soon to be Skipp.
“That will be useful. From another point of view, I feel he’s had another year of his development wasted.
“He’s too good for the Under 23s and he carrying the full attacking fulcrum in that team.
“He’s too good for that level, he “needs to be out playing men’s football but I see the long-term ideas at play here.”
