'Don't get me started' - Newcastle United fans react to Jamal Lascelles' display in 1-0 defeat to Dortmund
Newcastle United fans are divided over the future of Jamal Lascelles in the starting XI after his performance in the team’s 1-0 Champions League defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night (25 October).
Lascelles was in the starting lineup for the sixth time this season and has been filling in for the injured Sven Botman.
The 29-year-old captained the side for the 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, three weeks after their 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in their previous Champions League game.
The centre-back’s current contract runs until June 2024 after he joined in August 2014 and had been a staple member of the side before Botman’s arrival last summer.
The 23-year-old is currently sidelined with a knee in jury but is expected to return for the away trip to Dortmund at the start of November.
Some fans are desperate to see Botman back in the side in place of Lascelles, whilst others were impressed with the captain filling in on Wednesday night.
