'Absolutely criminal' - Liverpool fans react to new Alisson twist as footage emerges
Liverpool fans have reacted after Man City goalkeeper Ederson was once again chosen to play over Reds shot-stopper Alisson on international duty with Brazil.
The South American giants faced Uruguay early on Wednesday (18 October), with Marcelo Bielsa’s side running out 2-0 winners against the five-time World Cup winners in Montevideo.
Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez was on the scoresheet for his country before Nicolas de la Cruz added a second goal with around 20 minutes of action remaining.
Alisson has now been excluded from the Brazil squad for their last seven international games, with Ederson getting the nod in the last six Selecao fixtures.
The 31-year-old Reds star faces a short turnaround to his next club game, which comes against rivals Everton on Saturday (21 October).
Some Liverpool fans were quick to point out that Alisson would have done better with Nunez’s opening goal.

Great finish by Darwin, however, Alisson saves that. Diniz deserves it for starting Ederson over Alisson though 🤣

Absolutely criminal that Alisson is dropped for Ederson.

Another fan suggested Brazil boss Fernando Diniz could even lose his job as a result of his insistence on starting Ederson.
The new NT manager trying to be clever & different but it will be the end of him, imagine having Alisson to sit on the bench while Ederson drops howlers on regular basis

Some Liverpool fans can’t believe the South American giants have neglected who they feel is the best goalkeeper in world football.
That’s what happens when you put Ederson in goal instead of the best GK in the world: Alisson

Meanwhile, another supporter pointed out that Brazil have conceded 12 goals since dropping Alisson for the last seven games, keeping just one clean sheet.
