Man United star Mason Mount set for 'massive struggle' - Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Man United newcomer Mason Mount faces a “massive struggle” to get back into the England squad.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Conor Gallagher, James Ward-Prowse and James Maddison are ahead of the 24-year-old in the running – despite him being a “favourite” of Gareth Southgate.
Mount has managed just seven appearances totalling 425 minutes of action since his reported £55million summer move to Man United.
Injury has limited his involvement but he was an unused substitute as Erik ten Hag’s side won 1-0 against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday (24 October).
The midfielder, who has amassed 36 England caps, has missed out on Southgate’s last three international squads despite previously being a regular.
Malta (17 November) and North Macedonia (20 November) are the Three Lions’ next opponents.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “It’s going to be a massive struggle to get back in that England squad for Mount.
“He’s a favourite of Southgate’s, we’ve all called him Southgate’s son for years – but this is where he has to be left out.
“Look at the position he plays in – even Ward-Prowse can’t get in with the form he’s in.
“He’s up against Gallagher, Maddison, Bellingham, Foden – he’s just not going to get in.
“The only way he can get in is by starting to perform at Man United. At the moment that doesn’t look likely.”
