McAvennie drops instant verdict on Clement's new-look Rangers
Philippe Clement will face his first real test as Rangers manager on Sunday (29 October).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie suggested that the game against Hearts at the weekend will really show Clement the team that he is working with.
The new manager is undefeated in his two opening games as Rangers boss with a 4-0 win at Ibrox against Hibernian last weekend followed by a 0-0 draw against Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday night (26 October).
Whilst the performance against Hibs last weekend was convincing, the performance against Sparta was less impressive, with the Gers lucky to escape with a draw.
McAvennie suggested Sunday afternoon will really prove to Clement what kind of team he has to work with.
“From what I have seen, they look organised, he has gone back to basics,” he told Football Insider.

“When you lose the ball you get after it and he has taken them back into a shape.
“They have been all over the place recently but they look much more controlled now. It was a good first game for the manager last week.
“The game this weekend against Hearts, I do not see them slipping up. But Hearts will be fighting so you never know but Rangers will want to stamp their authority early doors.
“It will be a good game for the manager to get more of an idea about the team and what they are like.“
