Andre Ayew: Major update on Sheffield United swoop for ex-Nottingham Forest star - sources
Sheffield United are considering a free transfer swoop for experienced forward Andre Ayew, sources have told Football Insider.
The 33-year-old is still without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of his contract in June.
Nevertheless, he remains match-fit and is part of the Ghana squad for their international fixtures against the Central African Republic and Liberia this month.
It is believed Sheffield United could face potential competition for Ayew from other Premier League clubs who are also ready to hand him another opportunity in England.
The Blades are keen to strengthen in attack despite having high hopes for a new-look partnership of Cameron Archer and Ollie McBurnie.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side picked up their first point against Everton on 2 September, drawing 2-2 largely thanks to the influence of Archer.

Ayew played 13 times for Nottingham Forest in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.
He left Qatari outfit Al-Sadd for the City Ground having scored 22 goals in 41 games for the Middle Eastern outfit.
The versatile attacker has also played at Marseille, West Ham, Swansea, Fenerbahce and Lorient.
Ayew can lead the line, play in attacking midfield and on both flanks.
He has racked up 21 goals and 12 assists across 102 total appearances in the Premier League.
The 114-cap Ghana international will be keen to stay at the top of his game ahead of the African Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast next year.
Ayew will join Rigobert Song and Ahmed Hassan in the AFCoN record books if he appears in a joint-highest eighth tournament in January 2024.
