Ryan Fraser tipped to agree permanent Newcastle United move in January - pundit
Ryan Fraser has been backed to secure a permanent Newcastle United exit in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton suggested the Magpies may have to drop their asking price in order to get Fraser out the door.
The 29-year-old’s current contract at St James’ Park runs until 2025 but he is spending the current campaign on loan at Southampton.
Fraser was informed in the summer that he had no future at Newcastle after being exiled from the first team before being sent out on loan.
As quoted by footballscotland (24 October) after scoring the winning goal for the Saints in their 2-1 victory over Hull City, the attacker said his main goal is to stay at the Championship club and get as many minutes as possible.
Hutton suggested that Fraser could be in line for a permanent exit in January but the Magpies won’t mind waiting until the summer to offload the Scot.

“I think that is the best decision even if it happens in the summer,” he told Football Insider.
“The writing was on the wall that he was not going to be playing much football.
“As difficult as it is, sometimes it just does not work out. For player and for club sometimes it is better to move on and it will happen, I can tell you that.
“I know he has got a couple of seasons left on his contract but if there can be a deal where you write that off and maybe the transfer fee is not as much, I think that is good to get the player out there and playing again.“
