Pundit drops 'massive' Kevin De Bruyne claim after source's Man City contract reveal
There is no chance Man City will hold off on offering Kevin De Bruyne a new contract even with a poor injury record.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton said De Bruyne “deserves” to be on a “massive” contract at the Etihad and insisted City will want to offer him an extension.
The 31-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in 2025 and Football Insider revealed (25 October) that the playmaker may not be offered a renewal if his injury record worsens.
The club are in no rush to discuss a renewal with De Bruyne and it is likely to be about a year before formal talks take place.
Hutton insisted there is no chance City won’t be willing to agree new terms with the Belgian.
“He has had some injuries over the years but that is part and parcel of football,” he told Football Insider.

“I think people scrutinise it a bit more when players are on massive contracts. For me he fully deserves it, over the years he has been one of the best players in the league.
“He definitely gives them something different, he has a really good understanding with [Erling] Haaland. I do not think it is something they will be totally worried about.
“These kind of injuries tend to come when you get a little bit older, he has also played a lot of football throughout his career.
“One thing I know is that when he is fit and firing he makes any team better so why would you want to get rid of that.“
