Greg Taylor to blame for Celtic draw as TV footage analysed - expert
Celtic were let down by officials for Atletico Madrid’s “soft” penalty for Greg Taylor’s foul in their 2-2 Champions League draw against Atletico Madrid.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie felt Taylor could have also prevent Alvaro Morata’s goal.
As shown on TNT Sports (26 October), Atletico were awarded a penalty when they were 1-0 down after the Celtic defender’s challenge on Molina inside the box.
Antoine Griezmann stepped up to take the spot kick which Joe Hart managed to tip onto the post but the ball fell back into the path of the Frenchman who didn’t miss second time around.
Despite going into the half time break 2-1 up, Morata’s second half header levelled up the game and the points were shared at full time.
McAvennie suggested that although it was soft, Taylor should have done better.

“It was a soft penalty again,” he told Football Insider.
“Taylor has done that a few times in the past, you just cannot leave your foot in like that in today’s game.
“I thought Greg could have stopped the second goal but he was in two minds about where to go. I do not want to have a go a him because he played well but that is the only criticism I have got of the performance.
“He will look back and know that he could have won the ball and stopped the goal but if that is the only complaint, that is not bad.“
