Chelsea told to sign 'next Didier Drogba' after source's £70m+ reveal - pundit
Chelsea told to sign the “next Didier Drogba” in Brentford star Ivan Toney.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie insisted a player like Toney will help bring the Blues back to the top level.
Earlier this month (10 September), Football Insider revealed that Brentford could demand £70million-plus for the striker in the January window.
The Bees are said to be reluctant to lose the goalscorer mid-season, particularly given the potential difficulty of finding a replacement.
The 27-year-old is unable to play for Brentford, or any other club, until 17 January after being handed an eight-month ban back in May.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side added Nicolas Jackson in the summer but McAvennie insisted the club are still missing someone like Toney.

“I still think they could do with Toney. I think if they get him they will be a force to be reckoned with again.
“They have got a decent squad but no disrespect to Jackson as I think he will be a great player but he is all over the place, he is a bit like Bambi.
“He will be a wonderful asset to Chelsea but if they get Toney it is like getting Drogba, he does not mind mixing it up, he does not mind the long runs and I think that is what Chelsea need.“
