Sources: Newcastle United keep tabs on Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly
Newcastle United have an active interest in Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly ahead of the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider has already revealed (9 September) that both Tottenham and Liverpool are keen on the 24-year-old.
It is believed Bournemouth could be forced to cash in on Kelly in the January window when he will have just six months left to run on his contract.
The defender can begin speaking with foreign clubs about a pre-contract agreement from 1 January, but three of the Premier League’s biggest sides are ready to ensure the Cherries receive a fee for the left-sided star.
Newcastle are ready to join Tottenham and Liverpool in the tussle for Kelly‘s signature as manager Eddie Howe is a big fan of the centre-back.
The ex-England Under-21 international was signed by Howe in 2019 but a ligament injury meant he played just nine times for the now-Newcastle boss.

Nonetheless, the Magpies manager is a fan of the player’s attitude and talents and is ready to bring him to St James’ Park with Newcastle in the market for a centre-back.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (8 September) that Newcastle had a late bid rejected for Crystal Palace star Joachim Andersen before the 1 September deadline.
Kelly has made two starts for Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side so far this season, playing 149 minutes in total.
He played 24 times last term, with an ankle injury preventing him from being an ever-present as Bournemouth avoided relegation to the Championship.
The Bristol-born ace can play as a centre-back and as a left-back.
