Sources: Middlesbrough in advanced talks to sign Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood
Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood is in advanced talks to join Middlesbrough on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
Boro are on the hunt for reinforcements in attack after picking up just one point from a possible 12 to start the 2023-24 campaign.
Greenwood, 21, fits the bill and is down the pecking order at Leeds despite their relegation from the Premier League last term.
The big-money signing of Joel Piroe and the reintegration of Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra has reduced the youngster’s opportunities even further.
He was, however, involved as Leeds bowed out of the League Cup on penalties against Salford on Tuesday (29 August).
Greenwood came off the bench for a 14-minute cameo – just his second appearance under new boss Daniel Farke.
