La Liga expert shares insight as Arsenal 'close in' on Isak after £75m Spain update

Arsenal must complete a “really important” swoop for “all-round” striker Alexander Isak, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Gunners striker, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, was speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 22-year-old.

According to El Nacional (2 January), Real Sociedad striker Isak is “loved” by Arsenal, with the north London club “close” to completing a deal.

The Sweden international’s release clause stands at around £75million.

Speaking to the Independent in November 2021, the former Borussia Dortmund man said it “would be nice to play in England” as he seeks to become “the best version” of himself.

Campbell insisted Isak is “exactly what Arsenal need”.

“I like Isak. He’s a young, strong striker who has got a very good all-round game,” he told Football Insider.

“Not only does he score, but he can also link the play, run in behind, and win those aerial duels.

“Getting that all-round striker is really important for Arsenal – as I’ve been saying for a while.

“The key is that he’s young and coachable. Obviously, he’ll have to develop and learn, but he’s perfect, exactly what Arsenal need.”

Isak is contracted to Basque giants Real Sociedad until 2026.

He penned a bumper deal at the San Sebastian club last year.

Arsenal have been without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang since he was stripped of the captaincy following discipline issues last month.

The Gunners sit fourth in the Premier League after 20 games.
