Sources: Fabio Carvalho ready for permanent Liverpool move after big-money bid from Champions League club

Fabio Carvalho is prepared to reluctantly accept a permanent departure from Liverpool this summer and has already been the subject of a big-money bid from an unnamed Champions League club, sources have told Football Insider.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Reds from Fulham last May, clocked up just 342 minutes of Premier League action in what has been a frustrating debut season at Anfield.

And he has already been told that he will not be part of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans for the 2023-24 campaign, regardless of how pre-season goes.

That revelation has invited a number of early enquiries over a potential loan move, with Premier League trio West Ham United, Brentford and Burnley among those interested.

However, Football Insider understands that Carvalho harbours concerns over whether he would earn regular minutes during a temporary stay at any of those clubs.

As such, a move to the mystery foreign club who lodged a bid for his services over a month ago is currently viewed as a more appealing next step to nurture his career, despite the player’s desire to make things work at Anfield.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will ultimately agree, with the Merseyside club currently understood to be reluctant to lose a major young talent on a permanent basis.

There have been tentative discussions about a potential buy-back clause being included in the deal.

Klopp recently spoke about Carvalho‘s struggle for minutes during his first season at Anfield, lavishing praise upon the youngster for his reaction in training.

“I think there is a possibility Fabio could go on loan, but we will see. This was not the best year of his career, his young career,” he said.

“No player has impressed me more than Fabio, that’s the truth. This very talented boy came here with big dreams and big expectations and it didn’t work out. His work ethic will give him a fantastic career.

“His reactions in a row [to not playing], I’ve never seen before, unbelievable.

“If we keep him, that’s all we will see. There are no plans for loans, we want to keep them if we can give them the opportunity to play, we’ll keep them because they definitely have the quality.”
