Pundit suggests Newcastle could be about to suffer badly - 'deal with it'

Newcastle United are at risk of being found out this season after their draw with West Ham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton is worried about the impact of having a drastic increase in fixture congestion will have on Newcastle.

Geordie fans were flying high last week after an impressive 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the second match of their Champions League campaign.

But the Toon army were brought back down to earth on Sunday (8 October) with a 2-2 draw against the Hammers, despite leading 2-1 until the 89th minute of the match.

After the international break, Eddie Howe’s side face Crystal Palace, Borussia Dortmund and Wolves within a week.

When asked if the draw with the Hammers will be a knock to Newcastle players’ confidence, Hutton told Football Insider:We saw what they did against PSG so they are more than capable of lifting themselves to that level.

I think those kinds of games can take a lot out of you so then going on to play teams like West Ham, it is always going to be a difficult match.

I think that is what might tell on Newcastle this season, being in the Champions League and having to deal with everything that brings as well as pushing for top four.

The expectation now is there and that is possibly what has been difficult for them to adjust to but they will be challenging come the end of the season.

In other news, Newcastle United now want to sign left-sided star in January.
