Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe tipped to reject English offer - pundit
Eddie Howe tipped to snub England job in favour of Newcastle United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton insisted Howe does not want to abandon his current project at Newcastle.
According to The Telegraph (19 October), the English Football Association have placed Howe on a shortlist of candidates to replace Gareth Southgate as the national team boss.
Southgate’s current contract with England is due to expire in December 2024 but before then the 53-year-old will lead the team to the Euros next summer.
Howe has done an incredible job at Newcastle in recent seasons, most notably leading the team to fourth place in the Premier League last year and more recently to a 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
But Hutton insisted Howe will snub any approach from the FA until his work with the Magpies is complete.

“I think in the future if he continues to go the way that he is going at the moment,” he told Football Insider.
“I do not think he would leave Newcastle for that. For such a young, hungry manager that is doing so well, the international scene is different.
“It is not day to day, you are not on the grass all the time working with the players and I think that is something that he likes.
“I think if he continues the way he is his name will be in the frame but I do not think it is a job that he would want to take at this moment in time.“
