Medical booked: Chelsea reach full agreement on Axel Disasi deal
Chelsea are set to complete the signing of Monaco defender Axel Disasi this week for a fee of £38million, sources have told Football Insider.
A medical has already been booked and the French international is set to become the third signing under new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino after Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.
Chelsea pushed on with negotiations to sign the 25-year-old after Wesley Fofana picked up a long-term knee injury, piling pressure on the recruitment team to add a defender.
The London side have won the race to his signature – and he will sign a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge after completing his medical in the coming days.
Disasi had major interest this summer with Newcastle adding him to their potential list of defensive options – but the Magpies never made an offer, and Chelsea have now moved quickly to strike a deal.
The arrival of the Monaco star will also put the future of Trevoh Chalobah in the spotlight.

It is believed Chalobah will inch closer to the exit at Chelsea with Disasi expected to move ahead of him in the pecking order.
Pochettino is keen to add multiple further signings in this window – and could also push for a new goalkeeper in the coming weeks.
Chelsea have undergone a major overhaul of the squad this summer, with the like of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic moving on to pastures new.
Disasi made 49 appearances for Monaco last season, scoring six goals.
He has also been capped four times by France.
