Sources: Wilfried Gnonto tells Leeds United he wants to quit and join Everton
Wilfried Gnonto has told Leeds United he wants to leave immediately and join Everton, sources have told Football Insider.
Personal terms are unlikely to be an issue and Gnonto is pushing hard to secure a move to Goodison Park in the coming weeks and has informed the Toffees of his desire to make the move to Merseyside this summer.
On 2 August, Football Insider revealed that Everton have been in talks to sign the 19-year-old with Leeds playing hardball over a deal.
Talks have been continuing for some time but Gnonto has grown frustrated with the length of time a deal is taking to get over the line.
According to Sky Sports (10 August), the Italy international made himself unavailable for the Whites’ 2-1 EFL Cup win over Shrewsbury on Wednesday (9 August) as a result of his annoyance at a deal not being done.
Gnonto was included in the starting lineup for their Championship opener against Cardiff City last weekend (6 August) where they came from 2-0 down to rescue a point at Elland Road.
