'Big club snobbery' - Fans react to Rangers manager shortlist as surprise contender emerges
Rangers fans have been reacting to the managers linked with the vacant position at Ibrox as they close in on an appointment.
The Gers have reportedly whittled down their candidates in recent days and are hopeful of having a new boss in the dugout after the current international break.
Current Yokohoma F Marinos boss and former Gers players Kevin Muscat are among the names in the running alongside recently departed AS Monaco manager Philippe Clement, who won league titles with both Genk and Club Brugge. There have been whispers he was due to head in to Glasgow airport in the last hours.
Ex-Birmingham City boss John Eustace has also emerged as a surprise contender after his unexpected sacking which will likely make way for Wayne Rooney’s arrival at the helm.
The Gers are in the hunt for a new manager after Michael Beale was relieved of his duties earlier this month.
Club legend Steven Davis has taken interim charge, despite possessing no managerial experience, until Ibrox chiefs can appoint a successor.

But fans have had mixed opinions on who they want in the dug out.
One supporter was excited about the prospect of Clement, insisting he is the exact type of manager the Gers need:
But others would prefer someone who has already made their name in Scotland:
More recently, some fans have been coming round to the idea of the former Birmingham manager Eustace, given what they’ve seen from him in the Championship:
But the overarching concern from Gers fans is not to rush with the appointment, especially after Davis’ positive result against St Mirren:
