'I don't like seeing that' - Alejandro Garnacho has divided Man United fans after what they spotted him do v FC Copenhagen

Alejandro Garnacho has split the opinion of Man United fans after he was spotted scuffing up the penalty spot against FC Copenhagen (24 October).

Scott McTominay gave away a penalty deep into stoppage time in last night’s Champions League game against Copenhagen with the Red Devils only leading by a goal.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana managed to save the spot kick but some eagle-eyed fans noticed 19-year-old Garnacho attempting to scuff up the penalty spot whilst his teammates surrounded the referee to complain about the decision.

United went on to win the game 1-0 and keep their Champions League hopes alive and manager Erik ten Hag admitted that he didn’t spot Garnacho’s actions and evidently, neither did the referee.

But fans have had mixed opinions over what Garnacho did to the spot in such a crucial moment in the game.

One supporter was unimpressed by the youngster’s “unsportsmanlike” behaviour.

Another was also critical of Garnacho’s sportmanship.

One couldn’t believe the levels Garnacho would “sink” to.

Another fan was disappointed to see the credit being taken away from Onana.

But several fans were full of praise for the youngster, one fan hailing him for working his “magic”.

Another supporter was also happy to see Garnacho getting involved in the game in that way.

One branded the winger a “club legend”.

And one suggested Diego Simeone’s behaviour has rubbed off on the former Atletico Madrid youngster.
