Michael Beale has done irreparable damage at Rangers - pundit

Michael Beale has “set Rangers back years” despite no longer being at the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie claimed the Gers are “in trouble” no matter who the new manager may be.

Beale brought in 11 new signings during his time at Rangers but fans have not been impressed with what they have seen so far.

Former Norwich City man Todd Cantwell is the only player who has really managed to get the fans onside and he is currently sidelined with an injury.

Beale was relieved of his duties earlier this month after a string of disappointing performances that culminated in a 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Ibrox.

The Gers are yet to appoint a replacement with Steven Davis currently in the dug out as the club continue their search.

Former Rangers defender Kevin Muscat is one of the names being considered by the club as well as ex-Club Brugge boss Phillippe Clement but no final decision has been made.

But McAvennie is worried that Beale has done irreparable damage at Ibrox.

The boys that Beale has bought for me are not good enough,” he told Football Insider.

How are you going to get rid of them? They are all on long contracts. He could have single-handedly set Rangers back years.

Unless these players step up, which I can’t see happening any time soon, and become the players that Beale thought they were, the club could be in real trouble no matter who the new manager is.
