Scottish clubs 'suffering' at the hands of Rangers - McAvennie

Scottish Premiership clubs are “suffering” at the hands of Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie blamed the Gers as the reason for cinch choosing to end their sponsorship of the Scottish league early.

As relayed by the BBC (4 October), cinch, the league’s title sponsor, has chosen to end its arrangement at the end of the current season.

The online used-car dealership has agreed a five-year contract back in 2021 that was due to last until 2026 but has exercised its right to terminate the deal after three years.

The league will now begin the search for a new sponsor and reportedly anticipate strong interest from businesses.

The deal had caused problems for the Gers and last summer the Glasgow club were excused from the deal amid claims it conflicted with a commercial agreement they already had in place.

McAvennie blamed the Ibrox club as the sole reason cinch opted to end the deal two years early.

Now we have lost our sponsorship with cinch because of the dispute with Rangers,” he told Football Insider.

All the other clubs are suffering because of idiots at Rangers because they claimed they could not use the sponsor. It was a lot of nonsense.

The SFA should step in and tell them what to do because it is part of the rules, it is part of the game. I think somebody should step in for Rangers’ own good before they make an even bigger fool of themselves.
