McAvennie slams 'stupid' Nicolas Raskin as new Rangers details emerge
“Stupid” Nicolas Raskin has been told to keep his mouth shut and keep his ambitions of quitting Rangers for the English Premier League to himself.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie said Raskin will be turning the fans against him with such outlandish claims.
Speaking to La Tribune, as relayed by footballscotland (13 October), the 22-year-old detailed his ambition to one day play in the English top flight and claimed the Glasgow giants are “just a stage” in his plan to make it south of the border.
The midfielder joined the Gers last January and has made 27 appearances so far but is yet to score his first goal for the Scottish club.
McAvennie couldn’t believe Raskin’s comments when he has not done anything on the pitch to justify it.
“You cannot say that, the fans will not accept it, shut your mouth,” he told Football Insider.

“Rangers are not anybody’s stepping stone. He has got to start doing it on the pitch before he starts mouthing off because if you can’t do it in Scotland then you are certainly not going to do it down in England.
“Prove on the pitch that you are better than what you think you are, show the fans that you care about them and the club and then the fans will be behind you.
“If you are not doing it on the pitch then it is just stupid, the clubs in England are not going to want you if you are not doing it in Scotland.“
