'Cruel', 'Joke' - Arsenal fans react as Arteta makes David Raya decision

Arsenal fans have had their say with goalkeeper David Raya reportedly set to keep his place for the Champions League clash with Sevilla on Tuesday (24 October).

The Spaniard, 28, suffered the ignominy of being lobbed by Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk in the Gunners’ 2-2 draw away at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (21 October).

Raya has played each of the last seven games in the Premier League and Champions League after replacing Aaron Ramsdale in the lineup last month.

Ramsdale was absent at Chelsea to attend the birth of his son but has travelled to Spain as part of the Arsenal squad.

However, despite Raya’s recent shakiness – it seems Arteta is not yet willing to give the England international another chance between the sticks.

BBC Sport have reported that Raya will keep his place in the starting XI on Tuesday night.

The Brentford loanee, who has kept four clean sheets in seven games this term, can make his Arsenal stay permanent for a reported fee of £27million next year.

However, some fans have not been convinced by his recent performances and want Ramsdale back in the side.

Meanwhile, one fan slammed “cruel” Arsenal boss Arteta for his refusal to give the Englishman a chance in the Champions League.

Another Gunner suggested Arteta will have dropped a “clanger” if Ramsdale isn’t brought back in for the Premier League clash with Sheffield United on Saturday (28 October).

Fans also claimed Ramsdale’s time at the Emirates Stadium could be up.

Finally, one fan praised Arteta for refusing to hang Raya out to dry following his high-profile mistake against Chelsea – but insisted Ramsdale should come back in.

In other news, Arsenal could sell two stars and then beat Liverpool to midfielder.
