Sources: Tottenham star Perisic reaches verbal agreement to join new club

Tottenham star Ivan Perisic has reached a verbal agreement to join Hadjuk Split, sources have told Football Insider.

The 34-year-old Croatian is set to miss a big chunk of the season after suffering an ACL knee injury.

With his contract expiring next summer, he is not expected to play for Spurs again and has instead been given the green light to return to his homeland.

It is believed that Tottenham are willing to grant Perisic a move in January and a switch to Split for Perisic was discussed while negotiating a deal for Spurs’ newest recruit, Luka Vuskovic.

The versatile performer, who racked up 12 assists in his debut campaign while operating mainly in a wing-back role, is keen to see out his career in Croatia.

Discussions are advancing over a move to Split and he already has an agreement with the club.

Tottenham will not stand in the way of the player, who joined on a two-year deal from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022.

He had an impressive first season in north London, when his 44 appearances in all competitions yielded one goal and 12 assists, the most at the club last term.

Perisic began his career with Hadjuk Split’s youth academy but left Croatia for France in 2006, where he joined FC Sochaux.

The midfielder moved around numerous clubs over the years and has played for sides including Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.
