Agbonlahor lambasts Eddie Nketiah with Arsenal told to take drastic action

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Eddie Nketiah is not good enough to be a regular starter for Arsenal.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Brentford star Ivan Toney is now a “no-brainer signing” for the Gunners in the January window.

Nketiah has made 11 appearances so far in the 2023-24 campaign, notching two goals and one assist.

He has started seven from a possible eight Premier League games and recently made his England debut in the friendly win over Australia last week (13 October).

Gabriel Jesus has played second fiddle to Nketiah this season, notching three goals in nine appearances.

Meanwhile, Toney is expected to be the subject of interest from several top clubs in January as his gambling ban comes to an end.

He managed 21 goals and five assists in 35 games across all competitions last season

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I look at Nketiah and I see a player you bring on for 10 minutes if you need a goal.

“He’s more of a super sub.

“He’s not strong enough, not quick enough, he misses chances, he doesn’t have the instinct in front of goal.

“It’s different if you have the pace, but Nketiah doesn’t have that killer speed.

“Even Gabriel Jesus isn’t prolific, he’s not strong enough to lead the line on his own.

“That’s why I believe Ivan Toney is now a no-brainer signing for Arsenal.

“Whoever gets him in January, really, has got a great chance of winning the title.”
