'My God' - Peter Schmeichel can't believe James Maddison's transformation at Tottenham

James Maddison is looking “transformed” under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

That’s according to former Man United goalkeeper and father of ex-Leicester shot stopper Kasper, Peter Schmeichel who thinks that Maddison finally looks like the player he struggled to be at Leicester City.

The 26-year-old joined Spurs this summer from the Foxes and put pen to paper on a five-year deal.

The midfielder has been flying for Spurs this season with two goals and five assists in nine appearances so far including setting up the only goal in the 1-0 win over Luton Town on Saturday (7 October).

During his time at Leicester, Maddison made 203 appearances across all competitions, netting 55 goals and offering up 41 assists in those outings.

Schmeichel suggested that fans are only now seeing the real Maddison and the kind of player he can be.

Speaking to Premier League Productions (9 October) about Maddison’s rise, the former keeper said: “Very, very impressive.

“We followed Leicester for a long, long time with Maddison in the team. When he first broke into that team he promised so much then all of a sudden it was a high level, but not the highest level. He wasn’t producing what he is producing now.

It seems like he has a manger who knows how to manage him, tell him precisely what his responsibilities are and use everything you are good at, then you will see the results and, my god, the impact he has had on this Tottenham team.”
