Kieran Maguire: Everton fear they will land devastating 12-point deduction
There is a ‘big fear’ at Everton that they will land a devastating 12-point deduction if their FFP charges are upheld.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who explained that the Toffees could face a ‘very messy set of circumstances’ once their FFP hearing is concluded.
As per the Daily Mail, Everton began their FFP hearing last week by meeting Premier League officials in secret.
The hearing, which is investigating the club’s alleged breach of spending rules, is set to conclude at the end of the current week.
If found guilty, Everton could face a large financial punishment as well as a potential points deduction.
The Toffees have also been threatened with legal action by Leeds United, Burnley and Leicester City over a £300million compensation payment for their relegation.

Maguire revealed that he is ‘concerned’ for Everton, but not for their future as a football club.
“I don’t think the outcome is critical for the future of the club,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“There will be an Everton regardless of the hearing, but we could be left with a very messy set of circumstances.
“The big fear is that the charges will be upheld and the sanctions will involve a points deduction.
“A three-point deduction is something that they can deal with but a 12-point deduction is something that would be a huge setback given where they are in the table.
“Results have started to improve but a big deduction would add to the threat of relegation.
“So I am concerned.“
