Burnley star Marcel Lewis agrees Dundee deal - sources

Burnley midfielder Marcel Lewis has agreed a loan move to Dundee, sources have told Football Insider.

Lewis, 21, is well down the pecking order of Vincent Kompany’s first team plans at Turf Moor and they are willing to send him out on loan.

Dundee have moved quickly to agree a deal to take the former Chelsea youngster on loan until January.

The Clarets have strengthened their midfield this summer bringing in Aaron Ramsey and Sander Berge from Aston Villa and Sheffield United respectively.

The duo’s arrival has left little space in Kompany’s squad for Lewis to make an impact, and it was decided that a loan deal was the best option for all parties.

Dundee have made a mixed start to the season, winning once in their opening three league fixtures to leave them in sixth place in the Scottish Premiership.

Manager Tony Docherty was keen to add more midfield depth for the 2023/24 season and Dundee will now have Lewis’ services until the turn of the new year.

Lewis penned a two-year contract at Turf Moor last summer after joining the club from Belgian outfit Union SG.

He has only made one senior appearance for the Clarets since joining the club, coming on for a late cameo in the EFL Cup clash against Crawley Town last year.

Lewis boasts an impressive record at youth level after scoring and assisting 13 times for Chelsea’s Under-18s in 46 appearances.
