Robinson issues 'huge' Everton verdict after source's Thomas Frank update

Paul Robinson has claimed the next Everton manager “has a huge task” on his hands.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Toffees “are the poorest team in the Premier League” he has seen this season.

Everton sacked Frank Lampard on Monday following a torrid run of form.

Sources told Football Insider on 23 January that the Merseyside club made an approach for Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

However, the Bees turned down the approach and Frank is not believed to be interested in the vacancy.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Everton’s search for a manager, Robinson said: “Look at the managers they have sacked.

“For me, [Rafael] Benitez was the worst of them. That was a turning point. As soon as they appointed him there was a real problem. The fans were never going to accept it. I think the fans have distrusted the board ever since. That was the beginning of the downfall.

“Everton are the poorest team I have seen in the Premier League this season. Whoever comes in has a huge task on. There is a lot of players there who are on far too much money.

“There is days of the transfer window left to go. They need a new manager in as soon as possible. I worry for Everton. That manager’s job looks like a poisoned chalice right now.”
