Sources: Bournemouth in advanced talks to sign Middlesbrough star Marcus Tavernier
Bournemouth are in advanced talks to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Tavernier, sources have told Football Insider.
The Championship club have already rejected bids from The Cherries and Nottingham Forest for the 23-year-old this summer.
Premier League new boys Bournemouth have made Tavernier one of their top targets and are now optimistic of agreeing a deal following further negotiations and they hope to secure an agreement soon
Football Insider revealed on 11 June that Bournemouth were preparing a bid of around £10m for Tavernier.
Boro are reluctant to lose one of their key players but know they will find it hard to keep him after missing out on promotion in 2021-22.
Tavernier’s contract at the north east outfit runs until the summer of 2024.

The Riverside academy product made 43 league starts among 48 appearances in all competitions during 2021-22, registering five goals and five assists.
He could not help his side maintain a push to finish in the play-offs despite a drastic improvement of form following Chris Wilder’s arrival at the club on 7 November.
Wilder has already sanctioned the sale of Djed Spence this summer.
The 21-year-old wing-back joined Tottenham on 19 July after dazzling on loan at Nottingham Forest during the 2021-22 campaign.
Bournemouth are yet to shell out a transfer fee for any new signings this summer.
Ryan Fredericks and Joe Rothwell both arrived on free transfers from West Ham and Blackburn respectively.
