Sources: Newport in advanced talks to sign Bournemouth star Nathan Moriah-Welsh
Newport County are in advanced talks to sign Bournemouth midfielder Nathan Moriah-Welsh, sources have told Football Insider.
A number of EFL clubs have expressed an interest in landing the Guyana international, 20, before the window shuts.
But Newport are set to win the race for Moriah-Welsh’s signature as they close in on agreeing a loan deal.
Football Insider reported last month (14 July) that he was attracting interest from League One side Burton Albion.
But he now looks set to moved to Newport in League Two.
Moriah-Welsh was a member of Scott Parker’s squad in 2021-22 and played twice for the Cherries in the FA Cup at right-back.

He moved to the Vitality Stadium in 2018 from Reading and signed a new contract of undisclosed length last summer (2021).
As quoted by the Daily Echo in pre-season (12 June), Parker revealed he could now spend the 2022-23 season out on loan.
He also insisted he had been “impressed” by how Moriah-Welsh had developed since making his Guyana debut last year.
The London-born ace has now scored once and provided an assist in 10 games for his country.
Newport County have brought in eight players this summer, including two on loan.
After finishing 11th in League Two in 2021-22, the Exiles have bolstered their midfield ranks with the permanent signing of Sam Bowen from Cardiff City.
They are next in action against Luton Town on Tuesday (9 August) in the first round of the EFL Cup.
In other news, Bournemouth have agreed to sign a 25-year-old as a medical was scheduled for Sunday (7 August).
