Sources: Wolves close to Alex Scott deal amid new £25m reveal

Wolves are closing in on a deal for Bristol City starlet Alex Scott as they prepare another bid for his services, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (17 July) that the Midlands club have the upper hand over transfer rivals Bournemouth in the race for the 19-year-old.

Wolves have seen two bids turned down by the Robins – with the latest offer believed to be worth around £20million.

It is believed that Bristol City and chairman Jon Lansdown are keen to hold out for a fee of around £25million for their prize asset.

And Wolves are now preparing to come back with an improved offer for the England Under-20 international and make him their third summer signing.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are long-term admirers of Scott, having seen a bid rejected for his services in the January window.

But the Molineux outfit could get their man at last despite financial worries which saw them sell Ruben Neves and Nathan Collins in the opening weeks of this summer window.

Scott notched two goals and five assists in 49 appearances across all competitions last term – and has already managed 91 senior outings despite his tender age.

Wolves finished 13th in the 2022-23 campaign despite being bottom of the table when Lopetegui took charge last November.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (18 July) that Wolves are set to complete the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi after a breakthrough in talks.

Matheus Cunha and Boubacar Traore have already arrived permanently at Molineux as a result of obligation clauses in their previous loan agreements with the club.
