Ally McCoist cited in 'big' Rangers claim - expert

Rangers fans should be worried about the lack of goals from their forward players.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie said the forward area is of greater concern than the defence.

Michael Beale made a number of forward signings this summer with four of the nine new arrivals brought in to strengthen his attacking line.

Dessers was the only new arrival in the starting lineup for last weekend’s Old Firm clash against Celtic with Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Danilo joining the action for the final half an hour.

McAvennie insisted the lack of goals from the new arrivals is an issue.

I do not think there is a big problem with the defence at the moment,” he told Football Insider.

It is just basic talking that they need to improve and they will sort that out. It is at the other end that the problem is, I do not know where the goals are going to come from.

They have bought these strikers but at the moment they do not look like they are going to score enough goals like a striker should do for Rangers, like [Ally] McCoist and Kris Boyd who just scored goals for fun.

You are going to get chances at a Rangers, these guys have had umpteen chances and they haven’t taken them.

I do not know who is going to step up for them but that jersey is getting heavier and heavier by the game and they have a big problem if the fans are not with them.
