Rangers victims of major injustice as Kemar Roofe footage re-analysed - expert
Kemar Roofe’s goal for Rangers against Celtic last weekend shouldn’t have been disallowed.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said the chopped off goal was a “turning point” in the game that fell in Celtic’s favour.
As shown on Sky Sports (3 September), Cyriel Dessers appears to win the ball from Gustaf Lagerbielke that, at first glance, looks like a horror mistake from the Hoops defender before setting up Roofe for the goal.
Referee Don Robertson initially allowed the goal to stand but chose to disallow the strike after he was advised to take another look at the incident on the pitchside monitor.
The Celts went on to win the goal 1-0 thanks to a late first half striker from Kyogo Furuhashi.
Hutton insisted the disallowed goal was a game changing moment.

“I did think it was harsh,” he told Football Insider.
“I am not going to sit on the fence, I think it should have stood but ultimately from a defender’s point of view, was it a foul? Possibly.
“Lagerbielke dithers on the ball, he has so much time on it that you think he could have easily played it away.
“Dessers is actually just running to get round beside him and then Lagerbielke actually kicks into his leg and he takes the ball away. For that reason I do not think it was foul and I think it should have stood.
“After that, it kind of took the wind out of their sails and that was when Celtic really pressed on. I think that was a real turning point in the game and I personally thought it should have been a goal.“
