Sources: Fleetwood Town line up Pete Wild approach after Celtic legend axed
Fleetwood Town are lining up an approach for Barrow boss Pete Wild as they look to fill the managerial vacancy at Highbury, sources have told Football Insider.
Fleetwood are searching for a new manager following the sacking of former Celtic and Scotland star Scott Brown last weekend after picking up just one point from their first six League One games.
Wild is highly-regarded in coaching circles after spells at Oldham and Halifax Town before his move to Barrow last summer.
The 39-year-old guided Barrow to a ninth place finish in League Two last season and they are currently in fourth spot in the table after losing only one of their opening six games.
On 7 September, Football Insider revealed that former Oxford and MK Dons boss Karl Robinson was the frontrunner for the job.
Robinson has plenty of experience in League One, having guided MK Dons out of the division and managed Oxford in the third tier between 2018 and 2023.

Robinson’s managerial career stretches back over 15 years and he was most recently the assistant to Sam Allardyce when he was boss of Leeds United for their final four games of the 2022-23 season.
Scott Brown took charge of Fleetwood in May last year, shortly after leaving a player-coach role at Aberdeen.
The former Celtic captain took charge of 52 League One matches and won 14, drew 17 and lost 21.
Brown also oversaw Fleetwood’s historic FA Cup run which saw the third division side go all the way to the fifth round of the competition for the first time.
