Sources: Rangers star Rabbi Matondo spotted at Leeds United with move on the cards

Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo was spotted in the stands at Leeds’ opening Championship clash with Cardiff fuelling talk of a potential move to Elland Road, sources have told Football Insider.

It comes with the futures of star wingers Wilfried Gnonto and Crysensio Summerville up in the air before the window shuts.

Ex-Man City youth product Matondo could prove the ideal replacement if Leeds were to sell one of the duo.

Matondo has since been left out of Rangers’ European squad list indicating a move is on the cards from Ibrox before the 31 August cut-off.

The 22-year-old joined Rangers last summer from FC Schalke 04 and made 28 appearances across all competitions, offering up five assists in those outings.

Matondo was in the starting lineup for 11 games last term.

Speaking about the winger in December (2022), boss Michael Beale admitted the former City star has been suffering a “crisis of confidence” but insisted that the team trust him.

Leeds are in search of attacking reinforcements as they prepare to potentially lose Gnonto and Summerville.

Last week (4 August), Football Insider revealed that Crystal Palace are among a number of clubs monitoring Summerville and have registered their interest in the 21-year-old.

Last month (5 July), Football Insider also revealed that Everton and Aston Villa are keen on signing Gnonto, with other Premier League sides also monitoring the situation.

The Italy international is also attracting interest from clubs in his home country alongside English top flight sides.
