Sources: Barnsley to submit £1m bid for Exeter City star Sam Nombe
Barnsley are planning a £1million bid for Exeter City striker Sam Nombe, sources have told Football Insider.
The Tykes are in the market for striking reinforcements before the close of the transfer window and have lined up a move for the Exeter star.
Nombe, 24, is in the final year of his contract at Exeter and has attracted the interest of several clubs after scoring 17 goals last season.
He has already played five times for the Grecians in the new campaign but is yet to score.
Last season’s return of 15 goals and eight assists in League One was Nombe’s best-ever return in senior football.
The forward joined Exeter in 2021 and helped them to promotion in his first season at the club, notching eight strikes and two assists.

He has managed 27 goals and 11 assists in total for the St James Park outfit.
The London-born ace was also named Exeter’s Player of the Season for the 2021-22 campaign.
Nombe came through the ranks at MK Dons and went out on several loans before finding a permanent home in Devon.
One of those temporary spells came at then-Championship side Luton – but he made just 12 appearances in a season-long loan at Kenilworth Road in the 2020-21 season.
The 24-year-old also played at Oxford City and Maidenhead United during his time away from Stadium:MK.
Earlier this month, Exeter boss Gary Caldwell warned it would take a “huge offer” to prise Nombe away from the club this summer.
Barnsley are ready to test the Grecians’ resolve after losing two of their opening four League One games this term.
